T is for Team and the Team is on Thursdays

Ladies and Gentleman can you please join me in giving a warm welcome to team rider Dean O'Keeffe!!!

Dean was one of our very first team riders as we asked him to join up after hearing talk about his surfing/skating/snowboarding abilities through a mutual friend. Seeing pictures to back up these stories we knew Dean would be a great addition to our brand and help spread the strange.
Dean now attends the the Maine College of Art getting his study on after a brief hiatus from school.
Dean has really helped our brand grow and stray true to its roots of allowing nothing to interfere with your dreams. Dean like all of our athletes is just trying to live life to its fullest enjoying every day.

Look for more to come from Dean in the way of videos, pics, and strange.

Check an old video of Dean getting wet in the summer!

Strange News

What? It's snowing again?

Hola compadres and comadres,

Happy springtime! Here's a little snow to mess up your thinking patterns! Thanks mother nature; you really know how to grind our gears. Before we get into a our random Wednesday segment, we want to pay our respects to Sion Milosky who died last Wednesday, March 16th, while surfing Maverick's. Here's a little short that pays tribute to the life of big-wave beast, Sion:

Sion is most notably known for catching the biggest paddle-in wave ever in the North Shore's Big Wave Contest held last year. It was said to be over 30 feet (Hawaiian).

The Sion Milosky Memorial Fund has been established to assist the wife and two young girls that survive Sion. The fund will be held by the Bank of Hawaii. All Hawaiians can go to any Bank of Hawaii and contribute by simply requesting to donate to the "Sion Milosky Memorial Fund." For most of us outside of Hawaii, you can pay your respects here: Sion Milosky Memorial Fund.

In local news... the Homebase610 crew is hosting the 3rd annual Saugy S.K.A.T.E. Showdown at the Bethlehem Skateplaza. Signing up is easy and FREE (Calling all usponsored skaters!) You can either go to www.Facebook.com/HomebaseSkateShop or to the Shop itself and enter your name. They will be randomly selecting 32 names from a sign up sheet on the deadline date, which is March 31st.

If you have any questions, email them or go here: homebase610.com.

In other, other news... Meet Sonya. the slow loris.

Stay Slow.

Moosic Munday

Monday is beginning to become my favorite day of the week. As long as I have a few good tunes by my side, my week starts very swiftly. Additionally, it's the official first day of spring! There is possibly nothing better than feeling of a warmer season heading our way.

Today is a great day to listen to graffiti6. This group was founded in 2008 in London by producer TommyD and singer/songwriter Jamie Scott. They have a few famous tracks and are getting a lot of publicity as they are starting to show up in a few shows like CSI New York.

This short animated film was made by professional artist Ian Stevenson. His art is really funky and should be checked out here: Ian Stevenson

Enjoy. Thanks Suzanne, today wouldn't have been possible without you.

Stay Strange in spring.

Family ♥ Friday

Friday I'm in love.

We hope everyone had a tremendously lucky St. Patrick's Day. We would like to thank Team Rider Rob Schanz for allowing us the opportunity to brag about him on such a special holiday. Today, we will continue on with our sources of creativity and inspiration through our very own Functional Art Movement, the FAMily.
Today, we commemorate family member William Clower aka James Clower. Straight out of North Carolina, James has been working with us for about a half a year starting before our Winter '10 line was put in the works. He is a man with some serious artistic ability. He blows our mind every time he sends us a piece of work. Whether it is a photoshop piece, a drawing, or a combination of the two, it makes your jaw drop and sucks you into a whole new dimension. You may be very familiar with this piece>
"Simply Anti Future in the Eye." - James Clower

We were so pumped that we got to collaborate with James not only because of his talent but also because he introduced us to our premier skater Lee Wenzel. James continues to shine in strangeness as he will be a big part of the "White Collection" coming this April. Here's a little slideshow of James and his inspirations:

Stay Strange.

Dream Team Thursday

Happy ST. PATTYS DAY

Today we debut team wave slider Rob Schanz from Annapolis, Maryland. Not only does he kill it in the ocean, but he also is a gnarly DJ, going by the title: DJ Bandit.

DJ Bandit reppin' the Winter Line '10 Smokeshow Tee at one of his shows.

We found out about Rob while hanging with a friend of mine who was telling me about his buddies from high school who ripped and lived a strange lifestyle down at Flagler College in the FLA. So in this modern age where Facebook stalking is easier then making a PB & J I looked Rob up and realized immediately that he was staying strange in every aspect of life. See the picture below. From being a good surfer to the DJing he has really been the exact type of person that embodies the lifestyle that we here at Simply Anti believe in.

Rob is quite the guy who has represented himself with a mustache for a long time. There is nothing stranger than a guy who looks weird without his mustache, and I think that can constitute for our team rider, Rob Schanz.
Get to know Rob a little better here:
Years surfing: 6 years
Favorite board: My good old 6'0 Lost Psycho Ward
Best dance move: Foxtrot
Last time you pissed your wetsuit: last time I surfed
Best surf session you had: I would have to say one time I surfed La Ocho in San Juan, PR 8-10 ft glassy and maybe 30 people out max.
Last time you got really pissed at someone: New Years Eve 2010 in SoHo, as I'm walking to the Rivington Hotel this guy bumps his shoulder into mine and says "McDonalds b*tch?" I said, "umm no..." and he said I'm gonna f*ck you up!" I said, "ummm no..." and just kept walking. I wasn't mad just confused.
Last time you saw a shark: A couple months ago at a little spot south of St. Augustine--Not uncommon there.
Last time you saw a cougar: There is a restaurant and bar in Annapolis we like to callCougarfish (thats a play on words on the real name), great place.
Favorite food: Nothing like a burrito
Last good book you read: The Whiskey Robber, seriously a good read, it's not long and its non-fiction so it is much more interesting.
Last thing you bought: If I remember correctly it was either a cheesburger from Five Guys or a hot dog from some grumpy guy on the corner of 33rd and 7th ave. Don't go to him it was $3 instead of $2 also!
Sausage or bacon: Bacon

Through the high and low of it all, we have music to keep us on groove.

Team Thursday

It is the sacred Team Thursday that we have all been wondering if it would ever surface this earth's surface. Let me tell you, people, it has emerged! And this week we will begin giving you the inside story of sponsored band Fifty Year Storm from Asbury Park, New Jersey.

I met drummer Johnny "Night Train" Costanzo while working as a lifeguard in Bradley Beach, New Jersey. As a fellow lifeguard, I learned of his obsessions with music, babes, and Star Wars- there things that sound ideal as a member of an up-and-coming band. Through the Jersey beach community, I met lead singer and guitarist, Drew Pawlak. Drew brings along the funky/alternative feel to the band.

Check out their myspace. Check out their facebook. My favorite tracks are "In Vain" and "Buried." Check um!

Fifty Year Storm is quite their own band, boasting themselves to be of the Punk/Alternative/Funk genre with strong guitar riffs of the Star Wars elite. They have been on the move in a highly competitive region (Red Bank, Asbury Park). They frequently play at the infamous Stone Pony and the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. Also, they recently competed in Battle of the Bands for the area and reached the final round.

Stay alert for Fifty Year Storm. They are gunna come at you faster than a tsunami.

See ya in hell Johnny! Stay Strange.
